Charcoal grilling is much more an art form than Gas grilling. It isn’t as convenient or as predicable but it gives you a more authentic grilled flavor and cookout experience. Charcoal grilling requires more time and attention than gas, from building and lighting the briquettes to waiting for the coals to get hot to managing the flame. If unlimited oxygen is available, charcoal will burn hot and fast.

The debate over charcoal versus gas is one you don’t want to get in the middle of. The one simple thing you need to know is that it is a matter of taste and convenience. Charcoal is dark grey residue consisting of carbon, and any remaining ash, obtained by removing water and other volatile constituents from animal and vegetation substances. Charcoal is usually produced by slow pyrolysis, the heating of wood or other substances in the absence of oxygen

Remember, this is supposed to be fun. Leave yourself plenty of time to build a fire and do the grilling. Charcoal grilling isn’t hard and once you get the hang of it you will love doing it.
