Thermal Engineering Corporation (TEC) is the company that pioneered the concept of “infrared” grilling. They make commercial grills, pedestal grills, and cart mounted units. Practically everything is high quality 304 stainless, and built in their Columbia, SC, plant. Their unique cooking system begins with stainless steel burners. Just above the burners is a solid layer of special glass that absorbs and distributes the heat evenly. The stainless steel grates are just above the glass. The glass blocks air flow so there is strictly radiant heat and minimal drying from convection heat. Drippings from marinades hit the glass and vaporize infusing flavor into the food, and wood can be tossed on the glass for smoke. TECs have removable interior trim panels for easier cleaning. There is no need for side burners. You can boil water on the grates. All TECs have natural gas adapter kits available.
